Dr. Daniel Cosgrove began performing FAA Flight certifications in Palm Springs, Ca in 1999. He is a “Senior Medical Examiner” which means that he can certify commercial pilots with a First-Class license, as well as perform those for Third-Class pilots who fly smaller planes, i.e. general aviation. Unfortunately our dear friend, Dr Mort Gubin, now 95 years old, is retiring this year as an FAA Medical Examiner. 

    Dr Gubin came to Palm Springs in 1971 and began practicing OB/Gyn, delivering babies at Desert Hospital.  Dr Gubin had a small office just for pilot medical exams, located on the east side of Palm Springs airport, but it is closing this year as Dr Gubin retires. The FAA has asked that FAA examiners not practice on-site at airports anymore. 

    Pilots can still get FAA Medical here in the Coachella Valley: “I want to carry on the tradition of Dr Gubin” said Dr Daniel Cosgrove, who has an office in Indian Wells.  “Pilots will not wait, and they can be in and out in less than 15 minutes with the certification in their hand.”
